
The band’s tour had 12 shows left across the United States before being canceled, ending in their home city on October 16.
Video from Friday night’s performance posted to social media showed Pharrell, 65, yelling at and punching Navarro, 57, before being restrained by staff and removed from the stage at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion.
According to Pharrell’s wife, Etty, “tension and animosity” were building between the band members “every night” leading up to the incident.
She added that Pharrell was disappointed with the volume at which the band played.
Jane’s Addiction formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and is considered one of the early success stories of the alternative rock scene.
The band consists of Pharrell, Navarro, drummer Steven Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery.
They recently reunited after more than ten years apart.
Their hits include Just Because, Been Caught Stealing, and True Nature.
The rock band released four albums together: Nothing’s Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003), and The Great Escape Artist (2011).
In 2013, the band received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
