It is located a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station. Hotel Kanra Kyoto – A hotel where guests can “experience the spirit of Kyoto”. The entrance, located on the corner of two streets, is lined with two white draped canvases, with the hotel logo on the left. This is followed by double sliding doors that quickly eliminate the expected outside noise from being so close to the road. The double-glazed windows of the hotel windows make you forget that it is right next to the street. The reception area has ample space for guests to wait for check-in, and each staff member has a separate seat to help with anything they need.

The hotel’s traditional Japanese style is its biggest selling point. In fact, it could be said that the most popular attraction for guests at Hotel Kanra Kyoto is the soaking tub. The hibara is made of cypress wood and is soaked in low-level water to prevent the tub from drying out and cracking. Of course, there is a separate shower and plenty of bathroom amenities, but make sure to take advantage of the soaking tub at least once, if not every night.

One of the best things about the hotel’s location is that it is across the street. Higashi Hongan-ji Temple. Open from 5:50 am to 5:30 pm, and entrance to the temple is free. It is a quiet temple that is great to visit before starting the day or after a day of exploring Kyoto. There are many great rooms to book, but I recommend the Deluxe Twin Room for 2 people. However, if you book the Kanra Suite, you can soak in the bath on the balcony and enjoy the city view.
