Leeds Rhinos hooker Jarrod O’Connor has agreed a new two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2028 Betfred Super League season.
The 24-year-old was the Rhinos’ first-choice hooker last season, appearing in 22 of the 27 games he played and was given the number 9 jersey this season.
O’Connor made his Rhinos debut in 2020 and has gone on to make 124 appearances over five seasons, scoring six tries and two goals, and also featured in the 2022 Grand Final at Old Trafford.
Commenting on his new contract, O’Connor said: “I’m very proud to play for Rhinos and I’m excited about the future of this squad.”
“I am really pleased to have agreed a contract before the start of the season and would like to thank Ian Blease and Brad Arthur for the faith they have shown in me.”
“We have great competition within our squad this season and this will bring out the best in everyone in training and matches.”
Leeds Rhinos Sporting Director Ian Blease added: “We are delighted to have signed Jarrod on a long-term contract. He is one of our most consistent performers in training and matches.”
“He has now developed into a regular player in Super League and it is a huge boost for us to have him for at least the next three seasons.”
Leeds Rhinos manager Brad Arthur added: “Jarrod fully deserves this new contract. He is a natural competitor who is always striving to get better, which is a great attitude.”
“He is a good example for our young players, especially the versatility he has shown in adapting to become an established prodigy in Super League, as well as being able to fill other roles for us.”
