Hungary, almost alone among EU countries, has rejected Brussels’ call to stop using Russian fossil fuels. In Washington, Orban also pledged to buy more American liquefied natural gas (LNG) and American nuclear technology and fuel. Hungary is heavily dependent on Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline to the east and Russian gas via the TurkStream pipeline to the south.
