England defender Jess Carter admitted that her teammate Loren James felt “relief” that he was not the only player who missed the penalty for Sweden in the Euro 8 Junji penalty shooting.
The final winner of the UK won the penalty and passed the Sweden to Sweden. James, who climbed towards the second spot kick, saw Sweden’s Jennifer Falk saved her attempt.
In the UK, BETH MEAD hit the post, and with Grace Clinton, Alex Greenwood was rejected similar to the Swedish goalkeeper and missed three other punishment.
Carter, who was the subject of online racism during the tournament, was afraid that James had the same fate and that Mid, Clinton and Greenwood had not missed it. The UK won the tournament at the penalty by hitting Spain in the final.
“It’s terrible to speak, but it’s almost like a sigh of relief when a player other than a black is missing the penalty.”
“The racism that came with Lauren James (LOUREN JAMES) will be the only one missed.
“It’s not because we want to fail. If we miss, we know what will happen.”
James admitted that he was “scared” when he opened the abuse he received, reflecting his experience and saying that Sarina Wiegman, the British president, said he would play in the final.
“It’s the first time I was scared for the first time. I’m so scared,” she said.
“I think that’s a mix of big games, but I was scared of all the abuse that I could do with the abuse, whether I was a soccer base on it, because I was wrong.”
Carter talked about the effect of abuse on her, adding:
“It makes you guess everything you do for the second time. It’s not a good place. It doesn’t make me convinced that I’m going back to the stadium. My family was so devastating and sad.”
Mark Bullingham, chief executive of the Football Association, said in a tournament that the governing body mentioned the “hate” abuse to the British police.
