JetBlue’s loyalty partnership with Japan Airlines (JAL) ends March 31, one year after its launch. JetBlue did not provide an explanation.
Reciprocal agreements allow members of an airline’s loyalty program to redeem points for flights on other airlines, but this does not include point accrual. The deal focuses on Tokyo, Boston and New York JFK. JAL flies from Tokyo Haneda to JFK twice daily and from Tokyo Narita to Boston twice daily.
In Tokyo, JetBlue customers could redeem points for subsequent flights on the JAL network, and JAL customers could take advantage of JetBlue’s extensive domestic operations beyond Boston and JFK.
JetBlue said it will honor existing JAL reservations and JetBlue customers can continue to redeem points for JAL flights through March 31, including flights after that date.
