On March 16, 2026, a Pakistani airstrike on the Omid Drug Rehabilitation Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan killed at least 269 people.
Pakistan said in a statement to the BBC that it had targeted “military and terrorist infrastructure”.
The BBC spoke to more than 30 victims’ families, including addicts and center staff, who reject Pakistan’s claims.
The United Nations, which was granted access to the scene, and the BBC’s Afghanistan Service team, which was on the scene shortly afterwards, also confirmed that the strike had damaged a civilian receiving medical treatment.
