record-breaking bayern
The win once again demonstrated Bayern’s modern and historical dominance in German football.
The Bavarian giants have now won 13 of the last 14 Bundesliga titles. Bayern has 35 league titles and no other team has reached double figures.
Bayern’s wealth and influence eclipse their domestic rivals and this season has been truly remarkable.
Bayern have scored 109 goals, the most in Bundesliga history, eight more than the previous record set in 1971-72. There are 4 games remaining.
Free-scoring Bayern has 79 points and a goal difference of 80 points. If the season ended today, Bayern would become the first team in Bundesliga history to have a goal difference greater than their points tally.
Four wins from their remaining four games would give Bayern 91 points, equaling the highest score achieved by a treble-winning side in 2012-13.
Then there are the personal records.
Kane, who on Wednesday became the first Briton to reach a half-century in a season in all competitions since 1930-31, can still equal Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single season.
The England captain has scored 32 goals in 27 games this season and has an outside chance of catching Lewandowski.
Michael Ollis had 18 assists, three shy of the all-time record set by Thomas Mueller in 2019-20.
