Katamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo Resort Review: Overview
Katamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo is a 5-star luxury hotel located in Labuan Bajo, Flores, Indonesia and is the perfect place to stay when visiting Komodo National Park. This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Indonesia, with airy interiors that complimented the location, two infinity pools, an extensive cocktail list, and the Uni Floating Beach Club. There are many amenities and features too numerous to mention, but here are a few of them:
- fitness center
- 2 outdoor swimming pools
- indoor swimming pool
- spa services
- marina
- Massage/treatment room with glass floor Treatment room
- outdoor entertainment space
- walkway to the water
- Free Wi-Fi
- gym
- Breakfast buffet (surcharge) 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM every morning
- 3 restaurants
- 2 bars/lounges
- beach bar
- swim-up bar
- coffee shop
- private dining
- 24-hour room service
Our room was Grand Premier Ocean View.
We booked a Grand Premier Ocean View room, a standard hotel room, rather than one of the resort’s overwater villas, for our two-night stay. If we had stayed longer we would have probably booked an overwater bungalow. But the ocean view king bedroom exceeded our expectations.
This 55 m² room is modern and elegant, bright and airy and boasts impeccable panoramic views! The room layout is very good. It has a king-sized bed facing the window, a window-facing bathroom with a better view than what you would get in the bathroom, a sitting area and a spacious balcony. The bed was really comfortable and the room was really quiet. Thank you for everything as I try to get a good night’s sleep before leaving early to see the Komodo dragons.
One cool feature is the sliding wall divider between the bathroom and bedroom, meaning you can open it to enjoy the view or close it for privacy. The bedroom also had a separate vanity area, but I didn’t like the lighting.
- free toiletries
- coffee maker
- mini refrigerator
- table and 2 chairs
- hair dryer
- shower and bath
- robe and slippers
- towel
- air conditioning
Book your Komodo Island tour directly with Katamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo
Booking your Komodo tour directly through Katamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo has made a huge difference. We had researched several trips, but this was our most recent trip and we didn’t want to wake up at 4am while on vacation. Breakfast was delivered to our room before departure as the restaurant wasn’t yet open, and we departed straight from the resort’s private dock aboard a premium speedboat. No driving required. This meant a later and more comfortable departure than most other tours departing from major ports. A brief stop in port at the dock allows the crew to scan the national park system. This is because there are strict limits on the number of daily visitors. Then continue to Rinca Island. I will be writing a dedicated article about the Komodo National Park tour we booked. Spoiler alert, we saw a Komodo dragon.
Dining at Catamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo
The breakfast buffet was a real highlight. It was spread out wide enough to represent a variety of nationalities and cultures. This has brought about changes for luxury hotels that attract international guests. Lunch by the pool with a panoramic view was another popular option. Don’t miss the sunset cocktails. The sunset in Flores is one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever experienced.
We had dinner at both restaurants. It was beautifully presented and the service was excellent. Although we would say the shrimp pasta was a bit light on the shrimp, we counted exactly one.
komodo pool catamaran
We used all of the resort’s swimming pools during our stay and enjoyed them all for a variety of reasons. The outdoor swimming pool on the ground floor was beautifully shaded with comfortable lounge beds, a pool bar, coffee bar and ice cream.
The infinity pool with cabanas on the dock is the liveliest of all the pools and has direct access to the ocean and sandbank. The infinity pool in the main hotel building is a great place to enjoy lunch and sunset. That view can’t be beat.
We have never used the spa or children’s facilities so I can’t speak personally.
Katamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo Review: Honest Review
Considered one of the best hotels in Labuan Bajo, Katamaran Hotel & Resort Komodo was a standout for us and our biggest regret was not booking more nights here. Between the seamless private jetty departure for Komodo tours, the outstanding breakfast buffet, clean, modern rooms, amenities, cocktail list, and swimming pools throughout the resort, it’s easy to see why this hotel already has a reputation as one of the better Labuan Bajo hotels available today. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance.
