Katie Taylor set to face Flora Pili in farewell fight as WBC confirms fight ahead of announcement on Friday | boxing news

Undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor looks to cap off her outstanding career against undefeated French fighter Flora Pili.

Taylor, 39, holds the IBF, WBA and WBO titles at 140lbs and is expected to announce his farewell fight on Friday, with Dublin’s Croke Park expected to be the venue.

Prior to the announcement, the WBC appeared to have confirmed the 28-year-old Philly as the opponent. Pili (12-0) is the mandatory challenger for Taylor’s IBF super lightweight title and the top-ranked contender for the currently vacant WBC belt.

Champion Sandy Ryan is pregnant and has been declared ‘champion of the break’ by the WBC. The WBC ordered Taylor to fight Pili.

Taylor was previously the WBC champion but vacated the belt in 2025 to take a break from boxing.

This means Taylor has a chance to unify all the belts in her final fight and become undisputed champion for the third time in her career.

The date and location of the fight are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that Irishman Taylor will finally get his wish of fighting in Croke Park.

Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn said: sky sports: “Croke Park is not done yet, but as I said, there is incredible momentum from the Government, Croke Park, Katie Taylor and, more importantly, the people of Ireland. Everyone has an undeniable approach to making this happen.

“I went there too and saw the image of Katie Taylor and thought to myself to say, we can’t do this. We can’t walk. We have to jump over whatever the obstacle is. No matter what barrier is put up, we have to go straight through it.

“This moment, watching her walk down the Croke Park Tunnel in front of 80,000 people, will be the greatest women’s event of all time. Forget women’s boxing, forget boxing, forget men’s boxing. This is one of the greatest sporting events the world will ever see.

“This is the absolute pinnacle of the life of this woman who gave her soul to her country and her sport, breaking barriers and paving the way for every female fighter of her generation.

“There won’t be a dry eye when she walks out. I want that moment. Selfishly, I want to stand in the ring and look around and see that moment when Katie Taylor walks out in Croke Park and ticks the final box of her incredible career.”
