Kenya Airways is increasing its flight services to New York to cater for the expected increase in passenger numbers during the upcoming summer season. The East African airline will add two weekly flights from June 15 to September 28, bringing the total number of weekly flights to nine with the addition of a daily service from New York JFK. Additional flights will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The move comes alongside a strategic partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board to position Kenya as a premier tourist destination in North America. The additional flights will provide travelers with more flexibility. Specifically, on Thursdays and Saturdays, you have the option of two flights departing from New York, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Kenya Airways also emphasizes the convenience of direct flights launched in 2018 and offers same-day arrival options, such as departing Nairobi in the morning and arriving in New York in the afternoon.
Kenya's tourism industry has seen steady growth, with the Department of Tourism and Wildlife reporting 1.75 million international visitors in 2023, up from around 1.5 million visitors in 2022. Kenya's Ministry of Tourism expects the new flights to further boost tourism by attracting an additional 825,000 visitors. every year.
The new flights are scheduled to depart New York at 8pm local time on Thursday and Saturday and arrive in Nairobi at 4:45pm the following day. The return flight departs Nairobi at 8:45 am and arrives in New York at 5:45 pm the same day.
