Kenya no longer requires a visa to enter: Travel Weekly

Kenya plans to allow visa-free entry to all foreign travelers starting in January. This announcement coincides with our country’s 60th Independence Day.

Moving to a visa-free regime does not mean that Kenya will allow unrestricted entry to all travelers. The government plans to introduce a digital platform for electronic travel authorization. This system replaces existing visas and ensures that all travelers are screened through background checks before arriving in Kenya.

“From January 2024, Kenya will become a visa-free country. Anyone from anywhere in the world will no longer need to apply for a visa to come to Kenya,” President William Ruto said. In a speech given at Uhuru Gardens, southwest of Nairobi.

Under the new system, travelers will have to apply through an online platform that will be released soon. After submission, a security check will be conducted in coordination with the traveler's country of origin and results will be delivered within 1-2 weeks. Digital authentication is free, removing financial barriers for visitors.
