After 40 years of conflict with the Turkish country, the Outlaw Kurdish PKK had a consciousness to commemorate the symbolic first act of lowering weapons.
About 30 fighters, men and women have begun to disarmlessly disarm the cauldron and have a weapon in the summer.
Turkish President Turkish said, “The event is an important step towards Turkish goals without terrorism.”
About 40,000 people have died since the dispute began, and PKK has been listed as a terror group in Türkiye, the United States, the EU and the UK. This disarmament will be felt not only in Türkiye but also in Ike, Syria and Iran.
How did the disarmament begin?
Reporters and politicians, including Turkey’s pro -Kurded opposition party members, were taken from Jasana Cave to 30 miles (30 miles) from the northwest of Suleymaniyah, Suleymaniyah, Iraq.
The PKK fighter, including four senior officials, lined up to put weapons in the cauldron.
ReutersThe group described it as a historical and democratic stage in a statement, saying, “We voluntarily destroy our weapons before your existence, good faith and determination.”
Earlier this week, Abdullah Ocalan, a long -established leader of PKK, said, “It is a voluntary shift from armed conflict to democratic politics and law.”
Oh Kalan has been arrested in 1999 and has been a solitary prison on a small jail Island in Isla, southwestern Istanbul.
This process will continue with the involvement of Türkiye, Iraq and Kurdish governments for the next few months, the BBC Turkish said.
Who is PKK and why did the conflict last so long?
Delil Souleiman/AFPThis is not the first attempt to peace related to Türkiye and PKK, but it is the best hope that the armed struggle that began in 1984 will end.
Originally, the Marxist group, the Kurddestan Workers’ Party, took a weapon that demanded an independent state inside Türkiye.
In the 1990s, they instead demanded greater autonomy to Kurd, which constitutes about 20%of the population.
Ocalan announced a ceasefire in 2013 and urged the PKK unit to withdraw from Türkiye. The 2015 Dolmabahce Agreement was expected to bring democratic and language rights to Kurds, but especially in the southeastern cities of the Kurds, including DIYARBAKIR, a breakdown was broken in destructive violence.
The Turkish Air Force aimed to be a PKK base in the northern Iraq. Some military campaigns also targeted the Syrian Kurdish forces.
Ankara’s government excludes additional dialogue until the PKK puts down the weapon. It has begun to get up now.
Why did PKK decide to dissolve?
Getty imageIn October 2024, a prominent nationalist leader and Erdogan Ally were called Devlet Bahceli. He urged PKK’s imprisonment leaders to demand the dissolution of illegal groups. He suggested that he could open a way for release in Imrali island.
The Turkish government made a historic appeal for PKK to disband in February after starting a conversation with Ocalan through the pro -Kurd DEM party.
“All groups must lay their arms and PKK should disband themselves,” he reads Ocalan’s letter.
He said that PKK was formed mainly because the democratic political channel was closed, but the positive signals of Devlet Bahceli and Erdogan created the right environment.
PKK followed Ocalan’s lead, proclaimed a ceasefire, and later declared that “the historical mission was completed.” The Kurdish issue has now declared that “democratic politics can be solved.”
President Erdo said he met a friend of Kurdish in April, saying, “A chance to take a historic step to tear the walls of terrorism.”
Why is Kalan so important?
AnfOcalan, the founder of PKK, continued by many Turkishes who were confined to solitary 26 years later.
But he still plays an important role in Kurd’s eyes.
“I think he actually has this authority, which is a major symbol of many Kurds,” said Joost Jongerden, a 41 -year conflict expert at Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
Two days before the PKK began to disarm, Ocalan appeared in the video for the first time since he was tried 20 years ago.
For seven minutes he mentioned the outlaw group: “I believe in the power of politics and social peace, not weapons.
Ocalan was wearing a Beige Lacoste Polo shirt, and the shirt quickly fell into the virus and the website sold in stock was not enough.
What happens next?
ReutersThis site will now be established to convert to Ankara’s Turkish council and make a decision for the next stage for the government.
As the summer break is approaching, the specific decision is unexpected for several months when the Erdogan votes in the recommendation of the MPS Scissors Meeting and the end of the Erdogan remarks.
It is not yet clear what happens to Abdullah Ocalan. The government said that as the process develops, the conditions of prison can be reviewed, but the possibility of release will remain in the second stage.
What is this process of Erdogan?
Erdogan’s AK Party began to make an effort to change the Constitution, and it was speculated that Erdogan could run again for the presidency when his last term fell in 2028.
The AKP and the pro -Kurds party deny that there is some connection between the reconstruction of the peace process and the Constitution, but if Erdogan has DEM support, it will be much more likely to promote change.
ERDOGAN was behind a poll, but his major opposition rival, Ekrem Imamoglu, was accused of corruption, and more opposition markets were arrested last week.
