RED BULL Team Principal Laurent Mekies says Christian Horner can’t replace it in a way similar to Manchester United’s Alex Ferguson.
Horner was surprisingly plundered after he was in charge of Red Bull for more than 20 years.
Ferguson is considered one of the best soccer managers ever and changed Manchester United from the intermediate table team to a serial award winner.
By request Sky Sports F1 If the Red Bull without Horner is the same as Ferguson, who lost Manchester United, MEKIES said: “No one can replace Alex and no one can replace Christian.
“We are all different. The most important thing is that the group is incredible.
“What we want to do is to understand as much as this group can do. If you want to fight for victory and championships, you can create a small or large competitive advantage that you need to add.”
MEKIES had to consider red bull proposals for several hours.
MEKIES, the team principal of Racing Bulls, said that Red Bull was asked to replace Horner with “several hours” before the 51 -year -old dismissed.
The French received a phone call from the advisor Helmut Marko when I was in the British factory of RED BULL, Oliver Mintzlaff and Racing Bulls.
“It came from blue at that moment. I had to think about it for hours,” he said.
“It was difficult to digest, but the first is the first thing that comes to your heart, ‘Wait a minute, it is Red Bull. They call you and ask you to go to work.’
“Everything that Red Bull brings -energy, mind and how they race -you call the phone, of course it is honor and privilege.”
MEKIES switched to MINARDI before starting F1 in the early 2000s, and in late 2005, Red Bull purchased and changed its brand to Toro Rosso.
In 2014, he joined the FIA as a safety supervisor and played a key role in the introduction of HALO. After joining the Deputy Director’s Council in 2017, he turned to Ferrari as a sports director in 2018, and returned to the Red Bull family as a team principal of Racing Bulls in early 2024.
MEKIES says that Horner has been “very supportive” with him for the past two years and has sent him a message for the last two weeks.
“He was not supportive in a very difficult context,” he said.
“He was the first person to text and was the first person to call (after the news). This morning we sent a message to each other again.
“How do you have it? Can someone do the same as Christians? No, at least I nor me. But we will rely on the amazing strengths on this team.”
MEKIES provides a change in Red Bull
Spa Francesco’s Sky Sports’ Nigel Chiu:
“Laurent Mekies came to a press conference at the press conference at the front row of Grid before sharing a joke with Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft, surviving at Netflix’s drive.
“He didn’t give too much about Max VestAppen’s goal or Max verstappen topic, and Red Bull says he wants a competitive car.
“A few times, he mentioned the people of the Red Bull team and how incredibly they were,” Racing Bulls driver ISACK HADJAR and Liam Lawson are also the subjects of the experienced Mickey.
“He has engineering backgrounds such as MCLAREN, Williams and Haas, and recently, Red Bull has moved in that direction under MEKIES.”
