Moore spent three years with the Arizona Cardinals after being a second-round pick in the 2021 draft.
He joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 but was sidelined for the entire campaign due to a knee injury before joining the Vikings in 2025.
“Lawndale was a member of the Vikings team, but he was someone we knew well and cared deeply about,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said.
“He was a humble, soft-spoken and respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana roots.
“We are all heartbroken that he will not be able to continue to realize his NFL dreams and not have the opportunity to watch him grow.”
The NFL said it was “deeply saddened” by Moore’s “tragic death.”
Moore has 135 catches for 1,201 yards for the Cardinals over three seasons in Arizona after making his NFL debut in 2021.
“We are shocked and heartbroken to hear the news today,” the Cardinals said in a statement.
“We offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends, teammates and all who loved him and were privileged to know such a special person.”
Former Cardinals teammate JJ Watt said: “I can’t even fathom or process this. There’s no way. It’s too soon, it’s too special. I have too much to give. Rest in peace Rondale.”
“It’s moments like these that make us realize just how much our players carry with them on and off the field,” said the NFL Players Association, the union for player welfare.
“To our members, know that support is always available. Check in on your team members and keep their mental health top of mind.”
