Carry puffs that you can eat as a snack with pasta

There is ample evidence to show that Americans do. Eat more snacksOne new brand aims to bring the pasta-eating experience to the snack aisle.

Tantos are puff pasta chips inspired by classic Italian-American cuisine. According to the brand, the chips are made from flour and water, fried in oil, and seasoned with Italian spices. Avoiding flour substitutes, they get closer to real pasta ingredients. The snack comes in four varieties inspired by pasta dishes: Classico, Pesto, Marinara, and Cacio e Pepe.

The product was created by celebrity chef Joe Sasto, who said the idea came from his Italian heritage.

“When I first created Tantos, it was a happy accident. I spent years perfecting each flavorful recipe, trying to present the classic pasta dishes my mother taught me in a new and modern way,” says Sasto.

The chips are available on the brand's website, Amazon, and some grocery stores.

While Tantos will be a standout on grocery store shelves, pasta chips are not a new invention. Birch Benders Flips Over Ube Pancakes

Pancakes have long been known for their golden color. Birch Benders has turned that long-standing tradition on its head.

The pancake and waffle mix brand is launching Birch Benders Ube Mochi Pancake & Waffle Mix, which includes purple yams, known in the Philippines as ube, to create vibrant purple pancakes and waffles with a uniquely sweet flavor. Available online at Whole Foods, Sprouts, and BirchBenders.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Ube Mochi Pancake & Waffle Mix to breakfast tables across the country,” said Dan Englemeyer, chief operating officer of parent company Hometown Foods. “This innovative addition to our product lineup not only delivers delightful color and flavor, but also meets the growing demand for gluten-free breakfast options.”

Hometown acquired Birch Benders from Sobos Brands, now part of Campbell Soup, in 2023.

Until then, Birch Benders had been struggling after losing a major customer, facing increased competition in the popular keto diet market, and a larger-than-expected drop in waffle and pancake consumption due to the COVID-19 boom.
