LG announced that it is adding cloud-based and on-device AI-based features to its lineup of ultra-light Gram and Gram Pro laptops that go beyond existing Gram laptops.
The 16-inch Gram Pro will be the first Co-Pilot Plus PC in the LG Gram lineup, and stands out as the only model to use the Intel Luna Lake Core Ultra V series processor. The 17-inch Gram Pro and 16-inch 2-in-1 use Intel’s Arrow Lake Core Ultra H series processors.
The LG Gram Pro comes in 17-inch and 16-inch models with a 2,560 x 1,600 display, up to 32GB LPDDR5X memory, and up to 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSD. The 16-inch Gram Pro and 16-inch LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 feature Intel Arc GPUs, while the 17-inch Gram Pro features an Nvidia GeForce RTX4050 graphics card instead.
GramChat On-Device, which utilizes ‘a small language model derived from LG AI Research’s EXAONE large-scale language model’, is a time travel feature that allows users to quickly revisit ‘web pages, documents, videos, and audio files’ Strengthen offline functions, etc. Recently accessed. LG’s software is adding similar tools to Microsoft’s Copilot Plus suite and Apple Intelligence, but considering the problems Microsoft had with Recall, we’ll have to wait and see how it all measures up.
It’s also possible that these features will become available on more PCs, but LG hasn’t specified which AI features will be available on which laptops in the new Gram lineup.
Gram Chat Cloud is based on OpenAI’s GPT-4o and integrates with calendar and email services while responding to inquiries using “vast web-based data sets for detailed and comprehensive responses.” Requires an active internet connection and is free for the first year only.
All new Gram laptops support LG’s Gram Link 2.0, simplifying document and file sharing with other PCs and iOS- or Android-based smartphones. You can also answer incoming calls through your Gram laptop, so you don’t have to temporarily replace your headset or Bluetooth headphones with another device.
LG Electronics also plans to introduce an entry-level Grambook to the U.S. market next year. Powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, it features a 15.6-inch 60Hz full HD display, 720p webcam, up to 1TB of SSD storage, and 16GB of DDR4 memory.
