Wales international Louis Rees-Zammit has signed a long-term deal with Bristol, joining the Bears for the 2025-26 season after completing an 18-month career in the NFL.
The 24-year-old has scored six tries in eight games since signing for the Gallagher Prem title contenders and returned to Wales for the autumn internationals.
“I am very happy to have committed my future to Bristol,” said Rees-Zammit.
“This is the perfect club for me and I’m excited to see what we can achieve here.
“The environment here allows me to express myself and play the game the way I like, and it brings out the best in me.”
On the eve of the 2024 Six Nations, Rees-Zammit announced he was transferring to play in the NFL. However, despite signing with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, Rees-Zammit has not played a competitive NFL game.
Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam said Rees-Zammit had returned a better player from his NFL days.
He started at full-back in last week’s win over Newcastle, a position that Lamb sees as his best while playing on the wing for Wales in November.
Lam said: “Lewis is a world-class talent and someone who embodies the way we want to play at Bristol.
“Since returning from the NFL, he has demonstrated incredible professionalism and a desire to continue improving.
“His speed, power and technique are evident, but what stands out the most is his willingness to learn, adapt and deliver on the biggest stage.
“What’s interesting is that he’s only scratching the surface of what he’s capable of. At only 24 years old, there’s so much more to come from him.
“If he continues this journey, he has everything he needs to become the best player in the world.”
