Luke Littler has shrugged off the boos he received at Liverpool during their Premier League Day 12 win, declaring the reaction he received on Day 11 in Rotterdam was “the worst he’s ever experienced”.
Littler played Dutch No. 1 on Night Nine in Manchester. 1 He has become accustomed to being taunted by the crowd recently, having suffered the worst in his fight with Gian van Veen.
Van Veen won a controversial match in which Littler reacted angrily after his opponent turned towards him as he threw a match dart. The Dutchman said Littler had a “bad turn” because he was “celebrating towards the crowd”.
This resulted in Littler being booed in front of Van Veen’s home crowd as he took to the stage for each of the three matches ahead of the Night 11 final in Rotterdam.
Even when Littler, a Manchester native, arrived in Liverpool, he did not receive a warm welcome. But he defied the crowd at the M&S Bank Arena as he beat Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Jonny Clayton to claim his fifth win of the night.
He now sits top of the table, three points off Clayton with four weeks of regular time remaining.
For Littler, nothing has fazed him since his experience in Rotterdam.
“That’s it (causing boos), I won and let’s move on to next week,” Littler said. sky sports.
“Rotterdam was much louder than tonight. This week was nothing compared to last week.
“But you just forget about it. I was focused and I really wanted to win tonight and that’s what I did.”
He later added: “I proved to people last week that I can win in those situations and I did it again.”
“There is no anxiety there. You just expect the worst. It was no worse than Rotterdam.”
“It’s the worst I’ve ever been in. It’s good to get through that game under those circumstances.
Littler and Van Veen ‘not talking yet’ | ‘I don’t regret anything’
It’s been three weeks since Littler and Van Veen’s original altercation, which has fueled the weekly crowd’s disdain for the former.
Littler said the two have not yet spoken, but he believes they have both “moved on” from the incident.
But he’s looking forward to patching things up with Van Veen on stage when they eventually meet again.
“No, we haven’t talked, but I’m not the type of person to go up and talk to him,” he said.
“Maybe he’s waiting for me to go and talk to him, but I’m not that kind of person.
“Even in the practice room, people talk to me first. I’m not the type of person to talk loudly.
“We can definitely work it out on the dartboard. In the back room, it was just normal. Preparation-wise, it was the same.
“I think he forgot. I forgot, too. If I need to talk to him, I will.”
“I don’t regret anything. Obviously I have my opinion and he has his, so we all deserve that.
“I think we both kept the game going on stage, but we definitely never spoke off stage. But yeah, I’m sure we did.
