What makes Morgenthal Frederics special?
Simply put, materials and craftsmanship. From high-quality acetate and pure titanium made by Japanese artisans to horn pieces painstakingly handcrafted in Germany. The Morgenthal Frederics Horn collection is a unique, heirloom-quality piece that takes hundreds of hours of handcrafting in Germany. If you are looking for custom glasses, we also offer a custom horn program that is ideal for those who value handcrafted, unique pieces.

My Experience with Morgenthal Frederics Twist VIII Sun Tortoiseshell Sunglasses
To me, sunglasses have always been more than an accessory. My collection has long since outgrown my dresser, with a mix of everyday pairs, statement frames, and investment pieces. Living in the desert, sun protection is important, but so is how a pair frames your face and compliments your outfit. I own everything from finds on Amazon to luxury brands like Chanel, Dior, and Prada. However, Morgenthal Frederics is one of the most luxurious and considered eyewear brands I own.

Oscar de la Renta x Morgenthal Frederics Twist VIII Sun Tortoiseshell Sunglasses Reviews:
I always tend to gravitate towards feminine butterfly frames and tortoiseshell frames for a retro, classic and glamorous look. This is how I came across The Oscar de la Renta x Morgenthal Frederics series. What makes Morgenthal Frederics’ striking Twist VIII Sun tortoiseshell sunglasses stand out is that their shape is more exaggerated yet subtle than any pair I already own. I have a small face, so I often struggle to find a style that fits my face. I also like the twisted metal look of the bridge.

The Oscar de la Renta x Morgenthal Frederics series includes 26 styles. If the Twist VIII Sun style isn’t your thing, be sure to check out the rest of the collection. They range from acetate to horns, neutrals to bold reds and blues, and funky tulip shapes to classic cat-eye frames. Expect to pay $545-$2,895 for one of these styles.

right: The size of the glasses frame seems to be just right, the silhouette makes my face stand out, and I think it fits my personal style. The only thing I had to change was to make the arms fit better over my ears. Measurements: Width: Wide A: 56 DBL: 20 Temples: 140.

color: I’m in love with color! I have a wonderfully dark tortoiseshell, ‘Dark Tortoise Sun’. It has a classic neutral feel that goes well with anything. If you want a more unique style, it’s also available in pink, blue, and gray smoke colors.

weight and comfort: Oscar de la Renta x Morgenthal Frederics Twist series is handcrafted in Japan using stunning Italian acetate and titanium accents, making it extremely lightweight. That’s why I think it’s really comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I also appreciate how durable it is.
Are Morgenthal Frederics sunglasses worth it?
The Oscar de la Renta x Morgenthal Frederics Twist series sunglasses I have are one of the more affordable pairs at $550. It’s cheaper than the Chanel or Dior sunglasses I own, so I think it’s worth it. Especially because it means supporting a luxury fashion brand that is so comfortable and sustainable. When it comes to a pair that costs over $2000, that’s a very personal thing, and I haven’t splurged on one yet.

Why is Morgenthal Frederics so expensive?
Morgenthal Frederics prices are due to a combination of factors. Founded in 1913, for over 100 years this quiet luxury brand has strived to create the world’s finest eyewear. The sustainable luxury brand uses rare and luxurious materials, such as rare buffalo horn, and several artisans spend hundreds of hours handcrafting their glasses. The quality of the lens should also be considered.

You can also expect to pay more for a custom pair. So if you don’t like that model, it doesn’t suit your face, or you want something completely unique, this is the one for you. By designing to your exact specifications, including color, material, and size, you can get a product that’s perfect for you.
Another advantage of investing in Morgenthal Frederics glasses is that they offer a horn care and regeneration program for the life of the product. So you are really investing in something that will last forever, unless you sit around, wait, or lose it!

What makes a horn special?
Morgenthal Frederics uses hypoallergenic, natural and sustainable buffalo horn in its luxury eyewear, making each piece unique, lightweight and comfortable. When I started researching Morgenthal Frederics, my biggest concern was how the horns were sourced. To be clear, horns do not kill animals! From sourcing to processing, Horn is not only environmentally and ethically responsible, but also sustainable.

The horns are “collected following the natural life cycle of the sacred Asian buffalo”. Their factories also run on renewable energy (wind and hydro). Finally, all waste is used as natural fertilizer for the German vineyards surrounding the factory. What I really appreciate is not only the incredible design, but this level of conscious creation and attention to detail.

Where can I find Morgenthal Frederics near me?
There are 13 Morgenthal Frederics boutiques in the United States, and you can use our store locator to find your nearest store. I’d like to visit one as I’ve heard nothing but good things about their service and level of expertise.

Where are Morgenthal Frederics products manufactured?
Morgenthal Frederics is based in New York City, but its collection of sustainable buffalo horn, wood and slate are all made in Germany. On the other hand, metal frames like the Twist III Sun below are produced in Japan using world-class titanium and acetate eyeglasses.

How to Style Morgenthal Frederics Glasses
This depends on the style you have. If you choose a statement piece, make it the focal point of your outfit and keep everything else to a minimum. If you’re like me and opt for a more classic, neutral color pair, their beauty comes down to how versatile they are and how good of a wear cost you get.
When it comes to showing off your glasses, I think it’s better to choose what you can wear best. This special tortoiseshell cat-eye pair goes well with everything from jeans and sweaters to summer dresses and cocktail attire.
