An explosion occurred at a fireworks factory in Naxxar, Malta, on Monday, local authorities confirmed.
Two men who were in a nearby field at the time of the incident were taken to hospital with minor injuries, but no one else was present at the scene and all licensed workers connected to the scene have been identified, Maltese police said.
Along with the sound of the explosion, a huge plume of smoke was seen rising into the sky.
An investigation is ongoing and Premier Robert Abela said his thoughts were with those affected.
