Mantis Collection, a South African-based hotel brand known for its sustainable lodges and boutique hotels, is expanding its portfolio with the launch of Mantis Hiddn in Addo, a new stand-alone eco-lodge scheduled to open on March 1 in the Eastern Cape province.
Located within a private 800-hectare reserve adjacent to Addo Elephant National Park, this 5-star hotel operates completely off-grid, powered by solar energy and supported by a water harvesting and recycling system. The lodge features 12 luxury mountain suites and two private four-bedroom villas, each with earth-toned interiors, a fireplace, spacious decks overlooking the wilderness, and a handcrafted KolKol wood-fired bathtub (a South African-made outdoor hot tub heated with wood).
Daily guest experiences include a guided outdoor safari to Addo Elephant National Park, home to Africa’s Big Five and more than 600 elephants, along with nature walks, stargazing, private dining and wellness rituals inspired by selected botanicals. Wellness services go beyond spa treatments to offer therapies and activities available on private decks or within the sanctuary, where guests can be treated to the natural rhythms of the Eastern Cape landscape.
Developed by Mantis, which focuses on conservation and responsible tourism, Hiddn in Addo was built using locally sourced eco-friendly materials and was designed to blend in perfectly with the environment. The property says it is deeply rooted in the values of the AmaXhosa people and is committed to uplifting the community through education, youth development and corporate partnerships in the Greater Addo region.
