MGM Resorts solves the lawsuit after stealing millions of customer records in data violations.

Hotel and Casino Giant MGM Resorts agreed to pay $ 45 million to solve more than 12 group lawsuits after stealing personal data for millions of customers with two separate cyber attacks.

According to a recent court submission, MGM agreed on the agreement on January 21. The Las Vegas Federal Court will reign on June 18.

The agreement proposal was reached in 2019 and 2023, following the two previously reported data violations at the MGM Resort.

In 2019, the hacker saw the MGM system stealing millions of customer names, housing addresses, telephone numbers and other personal information. MGM confirmed the violation in 2020 after being posted in the Cyber Crime Forum, which was known for the stolen data.

The 2023 ransomware attack on the MGM system caused several weeks of power outages and confusion over the real estate of the company of Las Vegas Strip, including Bellagio, Aria and Cosmo Politan. Hackers also stole their personal information, including some social security numbers and passport numbers. MGM said the company suffered more than $ 100 million due to ransomware attacks.

Lawyers of the group litigation said in this submission that two separate data violations had influenced 37 million mgm resort customers. MGM did not repeatedly share the number of individuals affected, and MGM spokesman Brian Ahern did not respond to TechCrunch’s request.

About 30%of the $ 45 million consensus fund will pay a lawyer, and the victims of group behavior will receive up to $ 75, each, depending on the type of information stolen.
