FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved the second fate stop in Monaco Grand Prix to create a “better race” at a famous event.
The lack of overtaking in the most famous race of the F1 has caused a matrix race in recent years due to the tight characteristics of the circuit and larger cars.
2024 Monaco Grand Prix has seen the top 10 starts and finishes in the same location.
According to the F1 rules after 2010, if the condition is dry, at least two dry tire compounds should be used in the Grand Prix, and each driver must complete the fit stop unless it is possible to replace the tire.
The FIA statement, published on Wednesday, said, “WMSC has reviewed the proposal on the implementation of the second floor strategy (wet and drying conditions) for the Monaco GP, along with the main intention to improve the sports scenery of this race.
“According to the recent discussion in the F1 Committee, certain requirements for Monaco GP have been approved by mandatory use of at least 3 sets of tires in Gyeongju, and at least two different tire compounds must be used.”
The F1 and Monaco Grand Prix agreed last year to the new deal in the calendar by 2031.
Following the F1 Committee Meeting held in London last week, the plan was first revealed and later deployed to WMSC for approval.
Charles LeclerC received the previous rules when he first won the home race last year, but supported the change when he spoke in London last week.
“I think it will be helpful for Sunday, especially strategy. The excitement of Sunday will be a little less than you want,” he said. Sky Sports News.
