Wales recorded their first win under Craig Bellamy in the Nations League with a 2-1 win over Montenegro in pouring rain at Niksic.
Kiefer Moore and Harry Wilson scored two quick goals in three minutes to give Wales a dream start.
Moore's opener came after 37 seconds – Wales' fastest goal since 2003 and ended their longest four-game scoreless streak since September 2012.
Driton Kamazi finished superbly in an exciting game but Wales took all three points after drawing with Euro 2024 quarter-finalists Turkey in their Group B4 opener.
Despite their early dominance, Wales could not rest easy against the attacking duo of Montenegro and Niksic.
There were numerous crunching challenges on the inevitably broken surface after persistent rain raised questions about whether the game would even be played. Niksic hosted its first senior men's international after UEFA declared the Podgorica National Stadium pitch unplayable.
How Wales got Bellamy off target
Wales ended their goal drought with their first attack when Moore latched onto a pinball in the Montenegro penalty area and fired it in off the post, Wales' 13th international goal.
Wales quickly gained the upper hand, as Wilson latched onto Neco Williams' pass, beat a surprised Milan Mijatovic and fired a superb 25-yard shot into the top corner.
Ethan Ampadu suffered a huge setback early on and was booked, before Montenegro almost halved their deficit when Nikola Krstovic missed Stefan Mugosa's cross by inches.
They came closer when Ampadu lost possession and Jovetic found Darlow outside his area, who struck the crossbar with a daring shot from inside his own half.
Darlow made a superb save from close range to deny Jovetic and, when the ball was dropped, Ben Davies showed all his experience by dropping back to block Kamaz's goal-line effort with a superb clearance.
Johnson came on before the break to replace a limping Connor Roberts and fired a shot into Mijatovic's palm with just over an hour to go.
Wales should have sealed the win when Wilson found Davies and passed across the face of goal but Moore simply tapped in, but he fired home from five yards out.
Montenegro refused to surrender and Vladimir Jovovich fired over the bar from 20 yards out, before Krstovic turned the rebound over to score.
Darlow made a superb save from Jovetic's shot and earned a handshake from the veteran striker, but Montenegro's threatening goal came through.
73 minutes later.
Krstovic opened the scoring and Kamaz slotted into an empty net, but the home side's pressure in the second half was in vain.
