A stunning late hat-trick from Morgan Gibbs-White gave Nottingham Forest a decisive 4-1 home win over Burnley to boost their survival hopes.

Forest were 1-0 down before a dramatic comeback from Gibbs-White sparked a dramatic comeback, but Vitor Pereira’s side moved five points clear of 18th-placed Tottenham, who sit in the final relegation zone with five games remaining.

Gibbs-White’s 15th-minute hat-trick caused further suffering for Spurs, who tried to sign him last summer.

Forest’s come-from-behind win at the City Ground puts second-placed Burnley on the verge of an immediate return to the Championship, while the Clarets are 12 points adrift of safety.

Scott Parker’s side went through Zian Flemming’s first-half stoppage-time opener before Gibbs-White turned the game on its head.

He equalized with a first-time shot on 62 minutes and put Forest ahead just seven minutes later with a superb first-time volleyed back post finish.

The England international notched a hat-trick with a stunning header in the 77th minute, becoming only the third player to score a Premier League hat-trick for Nottingham Forest after Kevin Campbell and Chris Wood.

Substitute Igor Jesus added a fourth in added time to keep things in good spirits at the City Ground after the side advanced to the Europa League semi-finals against Porto in midweek.
