Nevis is adding a new kind of nightlife experience that is as rooted in sustainability as it is in the Caribbean’s most iconic spirit.
to palm garden nevisConstruction has begun bar 29A dedicated rum bar featuring expressions from 29 rum producing countries across the Caribbean Basin. The concept brings together the region’s diverse rum traditions and provides a structured way to explore how the spirit is produced and aged in different islands and coastal countries.
The project stands out not only for the scope of its rums, but also for the way it operates. The entire premises, including the new bar, is fully powered by renewable energy thanks to a recently completed solar installation.
Rum program built around the region
Bar 29 is designed to be an immersive tasting venue. The focus is on showing how geography and production methods influence rum, with each participating country represented through a curated selection.
You can work your way through guided tastings that highlight the differences in style, from agricole rums made from fresh sugarcane juice to molasses-based expressions aged in oak barrels under different conditions. This experience consists of more than casual drinking, allowing you to take a closer look at how rum differs across the Caribbean.
By organizing the program around 29 countries, Barr creates a clear framework for exploration, turning an overwhelming category into one that allows exploration one region at a time.
Powered entirely by renewable energy
Sustainability elements are at the core of the project. Palm Garden Nevis has installed a solar energy system that powers the entire building, including the now open Bar 29.
This means every tasting, every drink and every evening at the bar will be powered by renewable energy, aligning the guest experience with the hotel’s wider environmental focus.
This approach reflects a growing trend in the Caribbean region toward smaller, more intentional developments that emphasize long-term sustainability without sacrificing quality.
Part of Nevis’ larger vision
The addition of Bar 29 fits into a wider strategy for the island that is increasingly prioritizing low-density experience-led projects.
“The evolution of assets like Palm Garden Nevis accurately reflects the direction our destination is heading,” said Andia Ravariere, CEO of Nevis Tourism. “We are focused on low-density, high-impact developments that prioritize true sustainability, authenticity and meaningful customer experiences.”
This orientation has become a defining feature of Nevis’ tourism landscape, with new projects aimed at adding unique services rather than large-scale expansion.
Settings within the Plant Collection
Bar 29 will be part of the wider Palm Garden Nevis experience, which includes a living collection of 108 palm species and 39 species of trees sourced from around the world.
The grounds offer a multi-layered green backdrop that changes character from day to night. After dark, the property’s “Palms of Music” program introduces light and sound elements, transforming the garden into an evening attraction.
The new rum bar is expected to be integrated into the environment, providing a place to gather within the illuminated landscape.
Impact on travel
For travelers, Bar 29 adds a new dimension to your Nevis stay. This isn’t just a place to order drinks. This is where you can explore the wide range of Caribbean rums without leaving the island.
The combination of depth, setting and sustainability makes this project noteworthy. You’ll get an intensive and educational rum experience powered by renewable energy in one of the Caribbean’s most carefully developed destinations.
Bar 29 is currently under construction and upon opening is expected to bring a new kind of rum culture to Nevis. It is a culture that connects almost the entire region in a single environment.
