Angama Amboseli opened Nov. 1 at Kenya's 5,700-acre Kimana Sanctuary, famous for its “Super Tusker” elephants. Continuing the “slow safari” concept of its sister hotel Angama Mara, the luxury safari lodge features 10 elephant-inspired suites and even uses elephant dung in its architecture.

Showcasing a fresh approach to safari lodge design, each suite is designed as a private sanctuary featuring a personal drinks cabinet, butler's lobby, work desk, dressing area connecting the bedroom and bathroom, double vanity and double shower. Floor-to-ceiling screen doors lead to a private patio with a lounge area and outdoor shower. Angama's signature outdoor rocking chair set invites guests to linger over the natural beauty of Kimana Sanctuary and the views of Mount Kilimanjaro. (In addition to elephant dung, the suites were constructed using a combination of canvas, concrete, and rattan.)

Angama Amboseli offers an intimate experience with elephants at Kimana Sanctuary with exclusive crossing rights and unlimited game viewing. “Super tuskers” are known for their long tusks, which can weigh over 100 pounds each and often almost reach the ground. Kimana Sanctuary boasts some of the highest habitat diversity and wildlife density in the region. You can also go on a half- or full-day excursion to nearby Amboseli National Park.
