There are also Caribbean hotels with a long history, jamaican inn.
For decades, Ocho Rios resorts have built a reputation for privacy, discretion, and a very personal style of hospitality. Cottages and suites overlook the tranquil ocean. The scale remains intimate. The service has long relied on employees who know how to anticipate guests’ preferences without turning the experience into a play.
Over the years, the hotel has welcomed generations of returning guests, guests and travelers drawn to the idea of old-fashioned Caribbean luxury: fewer distractions, more attentive service and a more permanent environment.

Why Jamaica Inn holds a special place in the Caribbean
Jamaica Inn has always occupied a different category from the island’s larger resorts.
This heritage is closely tied to the early days of luxury travel in the Caribbean, when Jamaica became one of the region’s leading destinations for international visitors. Ocho Rios was central to the island’s growth, and Jamaica Inn became one of the hotels most closely tied to the destination’s identity.
The hotel’s charm is by no means dependent on an extensive list of diversions. Instead, it has relied on privacy, personal service, fewer accommodations, and strong relationships between employees and returning customers.
The architecture, cottages and beachfront setting contain many of the characteristics associated with classic Jamaican resort design. Meals, spa treatments and beach time form the rhythm of the stay, creating a quiet, residential experience.
The resort’s reputation was also maintained by continuity. Family involvement, long-serving team members and a thoughtful approach to change have helped Jamaica Inn maintain its individuality as other hotels across the region expand or adopt more standardized concepts.
Henry now becomes part of the group responsible for protecting that identity.
Working with Kyle Mais
The appointment comes as Mais takes on a larger role at the resort.
The promotion to Managing Director and Shareholder gives Jamaica Inn a leadership team that combines ownership involvement with Henry’s operational background.
The agreement will allow Mais to guide the wider direction of the hotel while Henry focuses on the day-to-day operations of service delivery, staff leadership and guest experience.
Partnerships are especially important in real estate, where small details carry unusual weight. The quality of a stay at an intimate resort can vary depending on the consistency of housekeeping, the pace of meals, the response to special requests, or the way returning guests are welcomed.
Henry’s background in training, quality assurance and cross-functional leadership gives him first-hand experience in the field.
An experience that goes beyond traditional hotel operations
Henry also provides expertise in resort openings, relocations, stakeholder relations and financial oversight.
he holds Bachelor of Environmental Management Technology at College of Agriculture, Science and EducationWith studies in human resource management, business processes and economics. He also holds an associate’s degree in agricultural science and several certifications in hospitality and operations management.
An environmental management background is a notable aspect of his professional profile at a time when Caribbean resorts are placing greater emphasis on resource use, environmental stewardship and long-term management.
His extensive training also reflects the increasingly complex role of a hotel manager. The position has now expanded far beyond front-of-house services, requiring knowledge of finance, labor, safety, training, sustainability and property performance.
Protecting Caribbean Hotel Heritage
This appointment provides Jamaica Inn with a new operating voice without changing the qualities responsible for its reputation.
Henry inherited a hotel with a loyal following, a famous name and one of the clearest identities in Jamaican hospitality. His job is to help the resort perform at its highest level behind the scenes while maintaining the consistency that returning guests expect.
At Jamaica Inn, we have long expressed luxury through discretion, familiarity and personal attention. Henry’s career presents a similar emphasis on the people, achievements and small decisions that shape a hotel stay.
His arrival begins a new chapter for the Ocho Rios resort, but its central mission remains the same. It’s about protecting what has made Jamaica Inn one of the Caribbean’s legendary hotels.
