Harlequins scored five tries as they beat Newcastle 38-14 in the Gallagher Premiership.
Harlequins snapped a three-match winless run in the Gallagher Premiership with a 38-14 win over Newcastle at Kingston Park.
James Chisholm’s converted try gave Quins an early lead and the game developed into a closely contested match. Adam Radwan leveled seven minutes before the break but Marcus Smith crossed to restore his side’s lead.
Smith extended the visitors’ lead early in the second half and Ben Redshaw scored Newcastle’s second try to go close.

But three tries from Jack Walker, Oscar Beard and Sam Riley in the final 10 minutes gave Harlequins their fourth Premiership win this season, while the Falcons remain bottom of the table after suffering their eighth league defeat.
How the game unfolded
Newcastle managed some early pressure but Harlequins struck in the 10th minute when Chisholm scooped the ball up from a ruck, burst through a gap in the Falcons defense and rushed to the ground under the posts, with Smith adding the conversion.
The visitors were forced into an early substitution when Rodrigo Isgro limped off the pitch seven minutes later and was replaced by Jared Evans.
Just minutes after entering the pitch, Irne Herbst was sent into the sin-bin to challenge Richard Palframan and the promising Newcastle maul was well blocked by the opposition.
Harlequins’ defense was tested again as the Falcons put pressure on the visitors’ tryline, but a quick switch of play down the right allowed Radwan to sprint and ground out in the 33rd minute before Brett Connon leveled from the tee.
Harlequins soon regained the lead after a brilliant drive maul left him in a dangerous position in the right corner, Evans sending a fantastic pass over the top of the Newcastle defense to Smith, who rushed into space before converting his try. .

The fly-half extended Quins’ advantage six minutes after half-time with a penalty.
Newcastle built the phase well and found their second try of the night in strange fashion when a quick turn of play reached Ben Stephenson on the right.
The winger kicked the ball forward but it bounced off the corner flag and into Redshaw’s path. Redshaw reacted quickly to land just inside the line and Connon converted.
Quins responded immediately a few minutes later from a lineout with a driving maul and Walker broke away with Smith adding an extra man.
The ruthless display continued in the final stages when play was diverted by Beard to the ground before Newcastle’s kick went down and Riley crossed with seconds left on the clock, with Smith converting both.
