Caleb Williams threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore in overtime and the Chicago Bears overcame a 10-point deficit late in the fourth quarter Saturday night to earn a 22-16 victory over the Green Bay Packers, who lost quarterback Jordan Love to a concussion.
The Bears (11-4) extended their lead in the NFC North to 1 1/2 games over the Packers (9-5-1) and got revenge for a loss at Lambeau Field two weeks ago. Chicago’s sixth win this season came from behind in the final two minutes, and it was their most unbelievable win. Green Bay’s probability of winning was 99%.
Chicago moved closer to its first postseason appearance since 2020 with a rare win in the NFL’s oldest rivalry.
Counting playoffs, the Bears are 7-30 against Green Bay since 2008. If old foe Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Detroit Lions on Sunday, they will clinch a playoff spot.
Cairo Santos hit a 43-yard field goal to put Chicago ahead 16-9 with 1:59 left. The Bears were forced to attempt an onside kick, which Josh Blackwell recovered.
The Bears tied the game with 24 seconds left when Williams broke a full-throated blitz on fourth down and lofted a pass to a wide-open Jahdae Walker in the right corner of the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown. Coach Ben Johnson opted to have Santos kick the tying extra point instead of a two-point conversion.
In overtime, the Packers had 4th-and-1 at the Chicago 36 when backup quarterback Malik Willis fumbled the snap. Chicago took the lead at 36, and four plays later Moore started a wild celebration by hauling in the winning TD from Williams with Keisean Nixon all over him. Two weeks ago, Nixon sealed the Packers’ victory when he intercepted Williams in the end zone.
Already missing Micah Parsons after the star pass rusher suffered a season-ending knee injury in last week’s loss at Denver, the Packers had to endure without Love, who took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Chicago’s Austin Booker in the second quarter. Love jogged to the medical tent and then headed to the locker room.
Williams completed 19 of 34 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Moore had 97 yards receiving as Rome Odunze missed his third straight game with a foot injury. The Bears have won six straight at home since losing to Minnesota to open the season.
Love led two field goal drives and completed 8 of 13 passes for 77 yards before being injured. He had nine touchdown passes and just two interceptions in his previous five games against Chicago.
Washington Commanders 18-29 Philadelphia Eagles
The reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles secured their back-to-back NFC East title with a 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders on Saturday night.
Despite fumbles on two penalties on three wide left field goal attempts on the opening kickoff, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and company eventually took steps in the right direction.
The game included a late scuffle after Barkley attempted a two-point conversion to increase the Eagles’ lead to 19 points.
Two Washington defensive backs (Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin) and one Eagles player (offensive lineman Tyler Steen) were disqualified for unnecessary roughness.
There was a great deal of pushing and shoving and a lot of jawing as the scrum spread across the turf. As chaos ensued, officials threw six flags.
Order was eventually restored and Barkley, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner talked to each other.
Hurts, who is starting plays under center much more often than he did earlier in the season, completed 22 of 30 throws, 15 of which were caught by AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith. 185 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers. He connected with Smith from 5 yards out in the first half and then with tight end Dallas Goedert on the 15, capping a 17-play, 83-yard, 10 1/2-minute drive that put Philadelphia ahead 14-10 in the third quarter.
Hurts also did plenty of damage on the ground, gaining 40 yards on seven carries for the Eagles (10-5), who have won two in a row and have lost three in a row. They are the first team to finish atop the NFC East in consecutive seasons since Philadelphia won the NFC East every year from 2001 to 2004. The gap since was the longest drought in NFL history without a repeat champion in any division.
Barkley added a 12-yard TD run for the Eagles, part of a 21-carry, 132-yard performance.
The Commanders (4-11) have now lost nine of their last 10 contests and are already out of postseason contention, so there was plenty of room in the stands.
Chants of “EAGLES, Eagles!” rang out frequently and “Coooooooooo!” In the third quarter, when Washington was ahead 10-7, Cooper DeJean intercepted Washington’s third-string quarterback Josh Johnson, who came in when Marcus Mariota was out with an injured right hand.
Mariota started Saturday, replacing AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels, who led the Commanders to the NFC title game last season. They lost 55-23 to Philadelphia, but were shut out in 2025 after suffering a series of injuries and appearing in only seven games.
The chilly evening started ominously for the Eagles. Will Shipley coughed up the opening kickoff when he was hit by Mike Sainristil, and Washington recovered at Philadelphia’s 27, eventually getting a field goal.
The Eagles went up 7-3 on a drive that was nearly all hurt. He was 4-for-5 passing for 53 yards, including a 6-yard TD toss to Smith, and also added a 14-yard run.
That’s not to say Hurts was perfect. Almost no. He missed an open receiver, including an especially outrageous overthrow on Brown and another miscommunication with Smith.
The Eagles’ Jake Elliott sent three field goal attempts left in the first half. Elliott is 17 of 22 on field goals this season and has never missed more than one in a game.
But he had a 43-yarder in the first quarter. Then, 13 seconds before halftime, Elliott couldn’t get a 57-yarder to clear the uprights. However, Washington’s Tyler Owens was not included because he was flagged for offside. Now given another opportunity from the 52-yard mark, Elliott once again went wide left.
