NFL: Tennessee Titans fire coach Brian Callahan after dismal start to season | NFL News

The Tennessee Titans fired coach Brian Callahan after a dismal start to the season that left the franchise last in the AFC South.

The Titans lost 20-10 at the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday to drop to 1-5, and also have losses to the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.

Tennessee has snapped a four-game losing streak to begin the campaign with a one-point win over the Arizona Cardinals in early October, but the most recent loss to the Raiders proved to be Callahan’s last in charge.

The loss to the Raiders is the fourth time the Titans have lost by at least 10 points this season, the most by any team.

Callahan’s overall record as head coach of the Titans was 4 wins and 19 losses in 23 games.

“Decisions like these are never easy, and they become even more difficult when people of great character are involved,” the Titans said in a statement.

“We appreciate the investment Brian made in the Titans and the Tennessee community during his time as head coach.

“We thank him and his family for being exemplary ambassadors for the Tennessee Titans.

“Our players, fans and community deserve a football team that achieves standards we are currently failing to achieve, and we are committed to making the difficult decisions necessary to reach and maintain those standards.”

Callahan coached the Titans for a total of 23 games, achieving a dreadful record of 4-19.

Tennessee has not yet named an interim coach.

The Titans face the New England Patriots next Sunday.

Former Titans coach Mike Vrabel (fired by Tennessee in January 2024 after six seasons) is the head coach of the Patriots, who are 4-2 this year.
