Ever since I first came across this brand, I have been waiting for them to arrive in Delhi. Of course they were always in Delhi, but you know what I mean. I am already in love with GoodEarth and have loved working with them. Another brand with the same roots has made us even more hopeful about the Indian “scene”. I’m one of those shoppers who struggles to buy basics that are #MadeInIndia – minimal, simple, adorable clothes that can be worn for almost any occasion, any time! There are not many quality brands in the Indian market to fill this gap. Nicobar is perfect for me. And I’m not talking about basics like t-shirts and shorts (although Nicobar has those too), I’m talking about basics that don’t force you to completely adapt to the so-called “Western Wear”. I love Indian fabrics and Indian craftsmanship and I want the items in my wardrobe to last a long time. Moving away from fast fashion shopping a few years ago, there aren’t really many options in India.
After recently deciding to minimize my trips out of the house, my friends were surprised to hear that I was excited to attend events. But it was Nicobar’s launch event and week-long pop-up store opening and I had to go. It was a truly wonderful evening! I know I had already decided to fall in love with the brand before I even touched the product, but the evening was truly fantastic. Nicobar’s team collaborated with industry leading experts from North India to create an evening in keeping with the brand’s ethos.
Caara Foods managed the catering. Their food and service are always impeccable. Anisha and Aparna from Preferred Professionals managed the runway production using some of India’s best runway models. The team at Nicobar worked hard to create a beautiful setting with lovely lighting, seating and ambiance. I was happy to be there and enjoyed every moment. The same was true when I finally sat down on the real grass tarmac, legs crossed, beer in hand, swatting at a stray mosquito. It was fun. It felt like home rather than an ‘industry brand launch event’.
These are some photos from the pop-up store that will be open at Tulsi Farms in Delhi until April 17. Nicobar also has a store in Kala Ghoda, Bombay. Of course, you can also shop right on the website!

Thank you for speaking up on behalf of Raul and Simran. I hope to see more of you and the lovely work you do.
