Once, billions of dollars of genetic test giants, 23andme, are currently sailing 11 bankruptcy and informed that they can submit claims as part of the restructuring process to the present and previous customers. 11 companies and subsidiaries, including Lemonaid Health and LPRXONE, applied for bankruptcy protection in eastern Missouri on March 23 this year. Customers have been warned to file a claim for losses that occurred until the 14th Sunday.
Bankruptcy follows 18 months of noisy on March 23. It is displayed as a destructive data violation that reduces sales, departs from executives and damages sensitive personal information of nearly 7 million users. According to TechCrunch, the violation, which was released in October 2023, was exposed to the customer’s name, birth period, relationship label, the ratio of DNA shared with relatives, ancestors reports and its own reports. Nakjin caused a wave of customer distrust that seriously weakened the company’s business towards a number of class action lawsuits and the company’s consumers.
Customers who are now affected by the violation, especially 23andme, informed that the information was damaged between May 2023 and October, may submit that it is known as a cyber security accident claim. People who have suffered financial or other damages due to violations can submit claims as part of the bankruptcy case. Customers with other types of dissatisfaction, such as DNA test results, or the company’s remote health services, can submit a separate claim according to the general rod date package.
Congress also expressed concern about the impact of privacy.
The fall from the grace of 23andme was rapid, and the problem was complicated by the ambitious but expensive expansion of digital health and remote medical expansion, including $ 400 million in Lemonade Health in 2021. Originally, we aimed to diversify 23andme products that failed to provide 23andme financial resources beyond the original consumer DNA test.
A $ 30 million agreement in a related class action against cyber attacks is maintained by bankruptcy procedures. (23andme lawyers say that the agreement is controversial because the company is bankruptcy.) A customer who wants to preserve the rights to compensation must submit official claims regardless of the group litigation.
