Alpine announced that the principal of the Oliver Oakes team resigned with immediate effects.
Oakes, which became an alpine boss last summer, will be in charge of Benetton’s world titles in the 1990s and advisor Flavio Briatore who supervised Renault in the mid -2000s.
Shock announcement follows Sky Sports News Alpine is considering dropping the driver Jack Doohan ahead of the next F1 race on May 16-18, and returned with the preliminary Franco Colapinto.
Alpine said: “The BWT Alpine Formula One team announced that Oliver Oakes resigned from his role as a team principal, which he accepted as an immediate effect.
“From today, Flavio Briatore will continue to be an executive adviser and will deal with the obligations that Oliver Oakes previously carried out.
“The team thanked Oliver, who has contributed to Oliver’s efforts and the 2024 constructor championship since joining last summer.
“The team will not present any more opinions.”
Oakes established Hitech Grand Prix in 2015, and British -based costumes are leading a single teacher’s championship, including Formula 2 and Formula 3. Briton is a former racing driver and won the 2005 Karting World title.
He acquired OTMAR SZAFNAUER as the principal of Alpine in August 2024, and at the end of that year, he saw a wonderful dual podium of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly in Brazil.
Briatore was a controversial figure of the F1 after becoming a member of the “Crashgate” scandal, and his driver Nelson Piquet intentionally collided in the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix and helped him to win the Renault teammate Fernando Alonso.
He was forbidden from the F1 for his involvement in the case, but it was overturned by the French court.
The 75 -year -old boy returned to F1 as an advisor to Alpine in May 2024.
Briatore has participated in the F1 since the early 1990s, and has succeeded in the championship with Michael Schumacher in 1994 and 1995 and Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006.
Why did Oakes resign?
SKY SPORTS ‘Nigel Chiu:
“This would have come back to Jack Doohan’s uncertain future. So far, 22 -year -old boys have a difficult rookie campaign, including two large collisions in Australia and Japan, and have jumped amazingly when they were knocked in the first part of the sprint qualifier in the last race in Miami.
“Doohan has been in the season with a lot of pressure due to the signature of the Alpine Reserve as a driver of Franco Colapinto, but Doohan seems to have been supported by Oliver Oakes.
“When Alpine signed Colapinto, Flavio Briatore described Argentina as” one of the best young people in motorsports. “
“Perhaps Briatore and Oakes have collided with a person who needs to drive with Pierre Gasly this season, and Briatore won the battle.
