One person killed in Swiss floods as Alpine resort Zermatt is cut off

The body of a man has been found after three people went missing after floods swept through the village of Misox in the alpine valley of Graubünden in southeastern Switzerland.

Massive thunderstorms on Friday night broke river banks, flooded streets and forced dozens of residents to evacuate.

Four people were initially reported missing, but one woman was found under a rock and taken to Lugano City Hospital.

A man's body has been found eight kilometers from where he disappeared, police said Sunday.

Rescue teams are continuing to search for the remaining two people, but a police spokesman said it was “unlikely” they were alive.

The three people are believed to have been home when the floods swept away three homes and three vehicles, police said.

Further west, the alpine resort of Zermatt has been isolated by flooding.

Footage from the town, located at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn mountain, showed flooding flooding through streets on Friday.
