Perplexity now has a mobile assistant for Android.

Perplexity has turned its AI “response engine” into a mobile assistant for Android. Your new assistant can answer common questions and perform tasks for you like writing emails, setting reminders, making dinner reservations, and more.

It’s also multi-mode, so you can not only ask questions about what’s on the screen, but you can also open the camera to “see” what’s in front of you. In an example shared by Perplexity, a user asks the Assistant to “take me there.” Once the user knows where they want to go, the assistant automatically opens Uber, which offers available rides to that destination.

I’ve used it myself and it’s pretty neat. When I asked “Open a good podcast,” my phone started playing the latest episode of the podcast. Joe Rogan Experience On YouTube. Even though the taste was questionable, it worked pretty quickly.

Using my phone’s camera, Perplexity’s assistant successfully identified the promotion. pokemon I bought a McDonald’s Happy Meal (don’t judge), and I was impressed since the promotion had only been on for a few days. It also helped me write and send texts to family members using information from my contacts.

Along with Samsung announcing the Galaxy S25 with Gemini, Google said its AI assistant can now complete tasks across multiple apps and complete multi-mode requests.

However, Perplexity’s Assistant doesn’t work with all apps and all features. For example, you can’t access Slack or Reddit, and you can’t use it to leave comments on YouTube videos. Currently, the assistant supports Spotify, YouTube, and Uber, along with email, messaging, and watch apps, according to Perplexity spokeswoman Sara Platick. “We’re continuing to add support for more apps and more features, so this is just a starting point,” adds Platnick.

You can enable the assistant through the Perplexity app, which will prompt you to replace your phone’s default assistant with Perplexity. From here, you can access Assistant by swiping up from the left corner of the screen or holding down the Home button.

However, it is not currently available for iPhone. “If Apple gives us the right permissions, we will do it,” says Platnick.
