The PGA Tour said the 2026 season’s opening Centry Tournament will not compete in the Plantation Course due to drought in Maui.
The severe drought of Hawaii Island, which influenced 140,000 residents, has led to the preservation of water resources.
As a result, it is inadequate to host the event between January 5-11 because the conditions of the hosting Kapalua Resort are damaged and the PGA Tour standard cannot be met.
This measure was adjusted with Governor Hawaii, Centry Insurance, Car Palua Resort, and Maui County officials, and was cited for logistics issues caused by Maui’s remote position, tight shipping and supplier deadline, and infrastructure complications.
At this stage, there was no alternative place that confirmed that the PGA Tour would be shared in the appropriate process.
The PGA Tour statement said, “According to the Leadership of Sentry Insurance, Kapalua Resort and Maui County, according to the discussion with the Governor’s office, the 2026 game will not compete in the farm process of Kapalua due to continuous drought conditions, water preservation requirements, agricultural conditions and logistics problems. I decided to.
“Additional event information is shared if appropriate.”
Hideki Matsuyama won the 2025 edition of The Sentry, the lowest 35 -year -old record in The Tournament’s history.
