Philip Rivers: Former Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Interviews About Buffalo Bills Head Coach Job | NFL News

Former Indianapolis quarterback Philip Rivers has interviewed for the Buffalo Bills head coaching position.

Rivers returned to the NFL midseason last month after a five-year absence and made three starts to help lead the Colts back to the playoff race.

It was reported earlier this month that teams have been researching the 44-year-old following his dramatic return to the NFL, and on Friday he interviewed with the Bills, with quarterback Josh Allen participating in the interview.

Grandpa Philip Rivers threw his first touchdown pass in five years for the Indianapolis Colts.

Before that, Rivers had not specifically considered coaching in the NFL, but since returning to the league, he has made clear his interest in coaching in the future.

“I think I can coach at this level, I can humbly say that,” Rivers said.

“I know enough about the game and the players and the camaraderie from a leadership standpoint, but again, that’s not what I’m looking for when I sit here.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past four weeks, it’s that I take it one day at a time. It was a Sunday afternoon and I had no intention of being in Indianapolis the next day. And 24 hours later, here I was.”

Rivers currently coaches at St Michael Catholic High School in Alabama.
