
Philippine Airlines will launch a route to Manila on October 2, making Seattle its sixth U.S. gateway.
The airline will use Boeing 777-300ERs configured with business and economy cabins. It will be the only airline to operate flights between Seattle and the Philippines.
Toshiko Hasegawa, a Seattle Port Authority commissioner, said Manila is one of the most popular unserved routes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He added that Washington state has the fourth-largest Filipino population in the U.S. Washington and Oregon combined have about 240,000 Filipino Americans.
Philippine Airlines' current U.S. destinations include Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Honolulu, and Guam. The airline began a codeshare partnership with American Airlines in December.
Philippine Airlines is offering introductory fares on Seattle routes until April 30.
