Record-breaking heat that has already sparked massive wildfires across the western U.S. is expected to continue into next week.

About 130 million people were under some form of heat warning or advisory on Saturday. Nearly 57 million people are under heat alerts, with at least one child in Arizona already dying from a heat-related condition.

Meteorologists are warning that warm nights could cause people to suffer from heat stress. Temperatures in Death Valley on Monday could reach 128 degrees Fahrenheit (53 degrees Celsius).

Although it is difficult to link individual heat waves to climate change, scientists say climate change is making heat waves more common and intense.
