An improvement project at Pinney’s Beach in Nevis is complete and ready to welcome local residents and visitors. A 16-month project on the beach located west of Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park has transformed the area into a vibrant beach destination for business, leisure and entertainment.
Several guests attended the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of the project. One of them is Mr. Nevis Deputy Minister of Tourism. It was John Hanley. He congratulated and praised the collaborative effort that went into the transformation over 16 months of dedicated hard work.
Pinney’s Beach Upgrade Project
Project manager Michael Perkins said the project has a start date of December 2022 and a completion date of August 2024. The project was completed ahead of schedule at a cost of $3.3 million. The budget included spending on modern smart lighting and electronic systems, landscaping, CCTv infrastructure expansion and drainage.
Mr Perkins added that the vision for the project was to create a space for the community. “Whether it’s after a Sunday service, a weekend gathering, or a mid-week getaway, this space is designed to be a safe and inviting environment for our community to enjoy.”
His Excellency Michael Lin, Ambassador of China (Taiwan) to Saint Kitts and Nevis, is proud of the support for the “unique eco-tourism project”. “We are transforming Pinney’s Beach into a place that is as practical as it is beautiful, ensuring convenience and comfort for everyone who visits,” he said. His Excellency added: “Their goal is to ensure that everyone can enjoy Pinney’s Beach with peace of mind.” Funding for this project was partially provided by ROC Taiwan, which contributed to Phases 1 and 2.
