Easy Pistachio Latte Ingredients
A pistachio drink requires just four ingredients and optional sweetener.
Milk of choice – Technically, you can use any milk and still get delicious results, but some milks are far superior when it comes to creating the richest, creamiest lattes.
Professional baristas generally prefer oat milk rather than whole or dairy milk because it foams well and has a thick foam on top. Soy milk’s high protein content creates a velvety foam that’s great for latte art.
Low-calorie almond milk, skim milk, or rice milk can be separated and are best for iced lattes or when you don’t mind your toppings not being whipped or cloudy. Full-fat coconut milk doesn’t foam as well, but still has a rich texture and decadent dessert flavor.
Unlike other homemade pistachio latte recipes, this recipe doesn’t require condensed milk.
coffee – Use 1/4 cup of hot, strong coffee or espresso. Decaffeinated coffee also works.
Pistachio Butter – The easiest way is to buy bottled pistachio butter or pistachio cream at the grocery store. Or save money by making your own pistachio butter in a high-speed blender.
Vanilla – Look for pure vanilla extract, not imitation vanilla flavoring. This will give you the most natural vanilla flavor. If using vanilla milk, you can omit the extract.
Sweetener – If you like your coffee drinks sweet, feel free to add a tablespoon or two of pure maple syrup, honey, granulated sugar, pistachio syrup, or any sweetener of your choice. For a keto or sugar-free latte, omit the sugar or use your favorite sugar-free substitute.

How to Make the Best Pistachio Latte (Hot or Iced)
Warm Pistachio Latte
- In a small saucepan, add milk, pistachio butter, and optional sweetener. Heat on medium until hot. If you have a cooking thermometer, it should read 150°F or 65°C.
- Turn off the heat, add vanilla extract and stir.
- Using a whisk or milk frother, mix the hot milk until small bubbles form.
- Let the foam settle and pour into a hot espresso mug. Garnish and serve as desired.
Iced Pistachio Latte
- Whisk pistachio butter and optional sweetener into cold milk until smooth.
- Fill the glass with ice. Pour cooled milk mixture over ice.
- Pour strong coffee or espresso over everything and serve immediately.
- Or, if you want to make a refreshing frozen pistachio latte, whisk all ingredients (except the ice) and pour into an ice tray or shallow container. Freeze until solid, then blend in a high-speed blender until it forms a slush, like a blended Frappuccino. take pleasure in!

Coffee Shop Barista Tips
If you want to get fancy like a true cafe barista, try spreading pistachio butter or paste on the side of your glass mug.
Leaving half of the milk mixture unfrothed will make it heavier and allow it to sink to the bottom of the latte, creating that beautiful green and chocolate layer appearance.

Recipe flavor variations
Cozy version: I like to sprinkle toasted crushed pistachios and a healthy sprinkle of cardamom on top.
Dubai Pistachio Drink: For a luxurious Dubai Chocolate Latte, top your homemade coffee drink with rich chocolate syrup and pistachio sauce.
White Chocolate Matcha: Mix 1 teaspoon of sifted matcha powder into 2 ounces of hot water. If you want a low-caffeine, coffee-free latte, use this instead of espresso. Finish with chopped white chocolate.
Brown Butter: To make a surprisingly similar copycat Starbucks Pistachio Latte, brown 2 teaspoons of butter or plant-based butter before heating the milk. This caramel-flavored option pairs well with brown sugar as a sweetener.

1. Combine milk, pistachio butter, and sweetener in a saucepan. Stir to combine and heat over medium until hot. (If you have a cooking thermometer, it should read 150°F (or 65°C).
2. Turn off the heat, add vanilla extract and mix.
3. Using a whisk or milk frother, mix the mixture until small bubbles form.
4. Pour hot espresso or strong brewed coffee into the mug. Once the milk foam has subsided to some extent, slowly pour it over the coffee. Garnish and serve.
