From 27 to 29 July 2026, Playtime Paris opens once again in the beautiful Parc Floral, bringing together the global children’s fashion community for three inspiring days of discovery, creativity and connection.
This season’s theme couldn’t feel more perfect right now: summer music festivals. And really, what could be a more fitting source of inspiration? Music has always played a powerful role in fashion, influencing generations of designers, artists and creative minds. At Playtime Paris, that energy is transformed into an immersive experience that celebrates not only fashion, but also joy, community, and self-expression.

Michele Solecki, French ambassador representing junior style, attended the two-day event to capture the atmosphere and meet with brands from around the world.
“The day was set with a carefully curated playlist (aux petits oignons as they say in French – prepared with meticulous attention to detail) with a strong and very diverse attendance of buyers, influencers, mini models, photographers and international press.
Everyone moved from booth to booth, from activity to activity, laughing, singing and dancing happily with endless joy and enthusiasm.
The activities on offer are fun and enjoyable for all ages. “It created moments of real fun, sharing and togetherness throughout the show.”

Her observations perfectly captured what made this edition so special. Playtime once again demonstrated the importance of in-person gatherings beyond business events. In an increasingly digital world, there is something irreplaceable about face-to-face meetings, sharing ideas, exchanging feedback and celebrating creativity together.
For us, this is one of the most encouraging developments in the industry today. A return of physical events is occurring with new energy and purpose. Trade fairs are no longer simply a place to buy and sell collections. They have become vibrant community hubs where relationships are built, inspiration is discovered and the future of children’s fashion is shaped.
Walking down the aisles of Playtime felt almost like attending a summer camp for creatives. Or it was like attending an independent music festival, where a new story awaits at every stand.
And storytelling was undoubtedly one of the strongest themes that emerged throughout the show.
Storytelling has become one of the hottest buzzwords in the industry, but this season we’ve seen brands truly embrace it. Collections were no longer presented simply as products. They were presented as worlds, characters, adventures, and emotional experiences. Designers are increasingly building deeper relationships with consumers by creating narratives that invite families to be part of the story.

From a trend perspective, several key directions stand out.
As expected from the junior style SS27 vision board presented at this show, red has emerged as one of the representative colors of this season. From bright and bold tones to deeper, more sophisticated tones, red has appeared across countless collections, bringing confidence, optimism and energy.
Stripes were another dominant trend. They appeared everywhere, horizontally, vertically and diagonally, in every color combination imaginable. Whether a classic nautical reference or a more fun graphic interpretation, stripes felt fresh, modern, and extremely versatile.
The influence of the ocean itself could not be ignored. Sailor collars, navy blues, nautical details, and nautical-inspired accessories were prominent throughout the show. This naturally led to another recurring story: travel. Summer holidays, beach adventures and the romance of discovery have inspired many collections.
One particularly memorable example was Tinycottons, which featured an incredibly chic bellhop character. This look embodied the increasingly whimsical trend felt throughout the fair. It’s a captivating mix of imagination, storytelling, and meticulously crafted detail that feels like something out of a Wes Anderson film.
Accessories also played an increasingly important role. Designers embraced layered styles, unexpected details, and character-based elements to transform clothing beyond simple attire into full visual narratives.
Fashion inspired by sports also continued to evolve. Rather than focusing solely on functionality, the brand showcased its contemporary activewear influences through a more sophisticated and creative lens. The result is a classy, fashion-forward, sporty fashion that is far from ordinary.
Another standout trend was denim. Although it is certainly not a new material for children’s clothing, its presence has been felt more strongly and diversely than in recent seasons. Designers have embraced denim in countless interpretations, from comfortable everyday separates and workwear-inspired pieces to fashion-forward silhouettes and coordinated sets. The versatility of denim has allowed the brand to adapt to a variety of aesthetics, from sporty and modern to nostalgic and playful, making it one of the most striking and commercially relevant fabric directions of the season.

As I looked through the collection, one aesthetic observation became increasingly clear. SS27 is going to be a very visual season. The lifestyle images presented by many brands felt incredibly consistent with the aspirational, curated world that dominates today’s visual culture. Many of the collections had a distinctly “Pinterest-worthy” quality to them. It had beautiful style, emotional drive, and inspiring design.
As we left Parc Floral, we were left with an overriding sense of optimism.
Playtime Paris continues to prove that children’s fashion is best when creativity, business and community come together. This season celebrated not only what children wear, but also the stories they tell, the adventures they imagine, and the joy that fashion can bring.
And like the perfect summer festival, we’re inspired, energized and already looking forward to the next edition.
