Ponant: Travel Weekly: Sailing Exploration Cruises in French Polynesia

In 2026, the Paul Gauguin cruise ship is scheduled to sail to French Polynesia. Parent company Ponant will deploy one of its Explorer class vessels, Le Jacques Cartier, to the region from September 2026 to March 2027.

Le Jacques Cartier will offer a 14-day expedition experience, while Paul Gauguin will “continue its 25-year tradition of offering authentic and culturally immersive voyages throughout the year,” Ponant said.

Le Jacques Cartier's nature-focused cruises will be staffed by guides who are destination experts, Ponant said. A modular dock and semi-submersible platform make swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding easy.

“French Polynesia is a very popular destination for our guests and we want to offer them a wide range of itineraries and experiences,” said Ponant CEO Hervé Gastinel.

Ponang said more details about Le Jacques Cartier's French Polynesia itinerary will be revealed soon.
