Pope Francis opens the doors of St. Peter’s Basilica to begin a special jubilee year

Pope Francis declared a special jubilee for Roman Catholics through Christmas Eve celebrations at the Vatican.

The Pope announced the start of the Jubilee by opening the usually brick gates of St. Peter’s Basilica.

The Jubilee takes place only once every 25 years, and more than 30 million pilgrims are expected to head to Rome to pass through its gates and seek forgiveness for their sins.
