

What is menopause?
Menopause occurs when you do not have your period for 12 months.
Most women experience menopause between the ages of 45 and 58.
The average age of menopause in the United States is 51 years.

A decrease in female hormones that naturally occurs with age.
Cause menopause
Medical treatments, such as cancer treatment or surgery, cause the ovaries to shut down temporarily or permanently, so they no longer produce estrogen and progesterone.
Induced menopause occurs quickly, over a period of several weeks or even overnight, and can cause early or early menopause.
Early menopause = menopause before age 40
Early menopause = menopause before age 45
