
Qatar Airlines will take a 25% stake in Virgin Australia following the Australian Treasury’s investment approval.
The investment sets the stage to resume long -range flights this summer for the first time since Virgin Australia reorganized during the epidemic period.
Bain Capital, which acquired Virgin Australia in 2020, remains the majority of owners.
The airline expects to offer long -range operations in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth in June, providing services to the Doha Katari capital, which is approved by the Australian regulators. The flight from Melbourne to Doha is scheduled for December.
Virgin Australia has a fleet of completely criticized, so Virgin will be a Qatar crew to rent an employee to run these routes.
Qatar Airlines and Virgin Australia have been coded since 2022.
Qatar also owns part of Latam Airlines, Cathay Pacific, JSX, JSX, South Africa’s Airlink and International Airlines Groups (British Airways, Iberia, Vueeling, Level and Aer Lingus).
