On July 22, Qatar Airways launches a new triangular route to South America. The first loop flies from Doha to Caracas, then to Bogotá and finally back to Doha. However, the route will then operate in the opposite direction, flying directly to Bogotá and then returning to Doha via Caracas. This will help with payload limitations associated with Bogota’s high altitude.

The maximum one-stop block time on this route from December to July is 20 hours and 50 minutes. Flights depart from Doha twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. Numbered QR783, flying east and west, it will spend 90 minutes on the ground in Bogotá, followed by a two-hour layover in Caracas. The airline commented on the new route in a statement.

Qatar Airways will deploy its 777-200LR wide-body twinjet on this new triangle route, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. According to ch-aviation’s fleet data, the Doha-based Qatari flag carrier and oneGlobal members currently have a total fleet of six aircraft, with an average lifespan of 16.4 years.
Despite being relatively older compared to the average age of Qatar Airways’ entire fleet of 10.1 years, passengers flying on the airline’s Boeing 777-200LR jets can still expect a modern in-flight experience. In fact, according to aeroLOPA’s fleet data, 42 of the plane’s 272 seats are examples of Qatar Airways’ revered ‘QSuite’ business class product. It is deployed in a 1-2-1 configuration.
The staggered layout means the seats alternate front and back from row to row, with the rear-facing middle pairs being particularly suitable for couples. Likewise, rear-facing exterior seats are closer to the window than forward-facing exterior seats. The jet’s 230 economy seats are arranged in a 3-4-3 configuration, but narrows to 3-3-3 and 2-3-2 in the back.

Qatar Airways’ only current South American flight serves Brazil
Qatar Airways’ addition of new flights to Bogotá and Caracas is expected to represent a coup of sorts in the South American market for the Middle Eastern airline, considering it currently serves only one destination in the region.
