Rangers transfer news: Cammy Devlin leaves Hearts and links up with former Ibrox manager Derek McInnes | soccer news

Rangers have completed the signing of Cammy Devlin after the midfielder left Hearts.

The Australian has signed a two-year contract with the option to sign for a further year at Ibrox, where he will link up with former Hearts manager Derek McInnes.

The 28-year-old impressed under McInnes at Tynecastle. However, his five-year stay at the Edinburgh club came to an end as he failed to renew his contract.

Devlin made more than 150 appearances for Hearts and was a key figure as the Edinburgh club recorded their highest ever Scottish Premiership score last season, being beaten by Celtic on the final day.

Former Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland also left Hearts earlier this summer to join McInnes at Rangers.

Speaking to Rangers’ official channel about the move, Devlin said: “It’s absolutely amazing. I’m very happy to have taken the lead. It feels like a good time for the manager to come here and with so many changes happening at the club.

Devlin was a central figure in Hearts’ highest-scoring campaign in the Scottish Premiership last season.

“It’s an absolute honor and privilege. I’ve been in Scotland for a while so I know the size of the club and everything that comes with playing for such a huge football club.

“It feels very special now to call myself a Rangers player and I can’t wait to get started.”

McInnes added: “Cammy is obviously a player I know and I know what he will offer Rangers.

“For me his level of consistency has been really good and he is the type of player every manager wants in their team.”

“He knows the Scottish league and there will be no surprises for him about what the future holds. I would like to welcome Cami to Rangers and look forward to working with him again when he returns from his holiday.”

Rangers have been discussing deals for other midfielders, including Tromso’s Jens Hjertø-Dahl and Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic.

They have added five players so far this summer with Ross McCrorie, Ivan Pandur, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil and Shankland joining.
